Introduction

The Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) is a non- governmental, non partisan non membership organization located in Nairobi Kenya. Our Goal is “ to change you and transform all” while our Vision is to have a just and free society in which women and men have, exercise and enjoy equally their full rights and opportunities. Our mission is to transform society by empowering women and expanding frontiers for womens rights and freedoms.
Following CREAW’s Programmes such as the Public Awareness and advocacy, that are provided and stipulated for in the strategic plan, we have been spearheading and co-ordinating over a project titled Nairobi Brain Trust, which seeks to focus on adolescent reproductive health issues and rights.

As girls approach adolescence they face the start  of a narrow bridge. As they move through adolescence they must cross this bridge, emerging at the end as adult young women. However the bridge they pass through is risky.  They face poorer health outcomes, are more likely to become infected with HIV, more socially isolated, less likely to make the transition to secondary school or to complete it and fewer income generating opportunities. Attempts and efforts to  help adolescent girls build their social health and economic assets and provide for their protection so as not to drop out of school, get pregnant before they want to, become infected with HIV or an STI are minimal in being witnessed. Typically what is available are youth programs meant to include adolescent girls, but in reality do not.
